Important Security Enhancements to
EDE Login Requirements
Agents and brokers will be required to re-verify their CMS Enterprise Portal login credentials after 30 minutes of inactivity, starting in early August. CMS is implementing this change to enhance the security and privacy of your CMS Enterprise Portal profile and information.
How this works: Once you’ve logged into an Enhanced Direct Enrollment (EDE) website and authenticated using your CMS Enterprise Portal log-in credentials, a 30-minute inactivity timer will begin. If CMS systems detect there is no activity within that timeframe, your connection will time out and you will need to log in again to reconnect your CMS Enterprise Portal login to the EDE website.
Note: “Activity” is determined based on specific actions within the EDE website. Depending on how the EDE website is configured, in some cases you may be prompted to reconnect even if you’ve been actively using an EDE website. While almost all EDE partners have functionality to prevent agents from having to re-authenticate if they have been active on the EDE partner’s site, in rare cases you may be prompted to reconnect while actively connected.
To minimize disruptions, we recommend you:
- Complete applications, enrollments, and other activity in a single session when possible.
- Finish any active applications and enrollments before stepping away from your computer.
- Be prepared to sign in to your CMS FFM account again if prompted during your EDE session.
